What Data Does Speedtest.now Store About Me?
We collect the minimum needed to run the service and build aggregate network statistics. Full IP addresses are never stored. Your data is never sold. Here's exactly what we keep and why.
Data collected per speed test

What we explicitly do NOT store
- Your full IP address — only the first two octets (e.g.
192.168) are retained. The rest is discarded at ingestion. - Browser fingerprints, device identifiers, or hardware serial numbers
- DNS queries, browsing history, or any content of your traffic
- Payment information (there is no payment feature)
- Location more precise than city level
How your data is used
Individual test results are used to build the country and ISP rankings. We aggregate thousands of results to calculate median and percentile speeds for each ISP and country. Your individual result is one of many — no individual's result is published or attributed without their consent (competition entry is opt-in by virtue of having a verified account).
We do not sell your data to third parties, advertisers, ISPs, or any other organisation. We do not use your data to train machine learning models sold to third parties.
Data retention
Test results for anonymous sessions are retained for 12 months and then deleted. Test results for account holders are retained indefinitely while the account is active. When you delete your account, all associated test results are permanently deleted within 30 days.
