How Weekly Speed Test Archives Work

Each weekly archive entry represents one competition window for verified Speedtest.now results. The leaderboard resets on a weekly cycle so new users, new ISPs, and improved home networks can compete without being buried by older records.

What Gets Archived

Weekly competitions track the strongest eligible download result, upload result, and lowest ping result from verified users. This archive helps you follow previous leaderboard periods and compare current performance against past competition windows.

How to Improve Your Weekly Ranking

Run your test on Ethernet when possible, pause background downloads, and test at more than one time of day. If your result is lower than expected, check the internet speed test, read the accuracy guide, and compare your provider against the ISP speed test directory.

Why Weekly Results Matter

Internet performance changes over time as providers upgrade networks, local congestion shifts, and users improve their home setup. A weekly archive gives repeat visitors a reason to test again and a way to see whether their connection - or their provider - is trending up or down across competition windows.

Reading Trends Across Weeks

Looking at several archived weeks side by side tells you more than any single result. If winning download scores climb steadily, fiber rollouts and plan upgrades are working their way through the user base. If the lowest winning ping drops, users are getting closer to test servers or moving from Wi-Fi to wired setups. A week where top scores dip across all three categories usually coincides with seasonal congestion rather than anything on your end - one more reason to expect variation between tests.

How a Competition Week Runs

Every period opens Monday at midnight UTC and closes the following Sunday night. During the window, each verified user's single best eligible result per category counts - download, upload, and lowest ping. When the window closes, winners are finalized, the period moves into this archive, and the new week starts from zero. Winners are permanently recorded in the Hall of Champions, so a strong week is never lost. Eligibility rules - account verification, fraud screening, and minimum test quality - are described in the competition FAQ and the verified test FAQ.

If you want to make a serious run at an upcoming week, do it deliberately: test over Ethernet rather than Wi-Fi, close background apps and downloads, and submit attempts at a few different times of day - early morning and late night usually avoid peak-hour congestion. The accuracy guide covers the full pre-test checklist.
